Remembering Poppy

David Theodore Tarbox
1950-2009

The past few weeks have been tough for our family, as Adam's father David drew closer to the end of his life. Mei-Ling turned 3, and we had her scheduled to be baptized this weekend but got the call that Poppy did not have much time left. As I type this today, we expect that he will not be with us but for a few more hours. At that time, Mei-Ling, Xavier and I will join Adam in Memphis to bid Poppy our final farewell.

This is a picture of Poppy at his happiest. It was Thanksgiving of 2007, and he's holding Mei-Ling and his grandson George. He had grown a beard for a little while, so this was an unusual look for him. He had already been diagnosed with cancer, and he was battling it valiantly - as he has continued to do even as I am typing this post.

We will post pictures from Mei-Ling's birthday at a later time.
This post is in celebration of the life of David Theodore Tarbox.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23
